Know Char Dham

Gangotri

Gangotri is located in the Uttarkashi district. The distinguished eyes of the Gangotri region are green and pure water. According to elderly Hindu tradition, Gangotri is the source of the river Ganga. Gangotri water has gone to two cities after the four Dhams. In Gangotri, you will see the Gangotri Temple, and the hot water spring Gangnani. The presence of Sulfur in the water relieves the bath-takers. And people say that there is a Shivling submerged in water. It is said that this is the first step of the goddess Ganga on earth.

Yamunotri

This city has g to the grown-up on the shore of river Yamuna. It is said that a glacier called Yamunotri, at the elevation of 6387 m, is the source of the river Yamuna. Pilgrims can reach Jamunotri in less time from Janakichatti. Yamunotri can be accessed by riding on the pony or palanquin. The cost is set between Rs. 500 and Rs. 1200.  In addition to the main temple here, the objects of sightseeing are Surikunda, Saptarikunda, and Janakichatti.

Kedarnath

Kedarnath is located in Guptakashi district, 87 km from Rudraprayag. Kedarnath can be reached by crossing mountains, sometimes conspicuous green, sometimes fountains, and boundless natural beauty. Kedarnath is said to be one of the most important of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva. There is also Kedarnath Sanctuary. The sanctuary is for the location of various plants and wild animals.

Registration is required before going to Kedarnath. You can do it online. You will be given a journey card. The card you have to carry with you throughout the journey.

Badrinath

You also need special permission to visit this holy city in the Himalayas. You can rent a car from Joshimath to reach the temple of Badrinath. But the cars are allowed to go to Badrinath within a certain time period (3-5, 6-9, 6-12, and 2-5 pm). The temple is open from April to May.

So, here I am planning a Chardham Yatra in the October month during the autumn festivals. Though the Chardham stays closed during Diwali, the reason to make the plan in October is that the time is just great to visit. In Uttarakhand bid monsoon season goodbye and welcome autumn in October. And the probability of landslide gets very low. The night temperature in October is zero, but it will be a pleasure for day time.
